"We’re encouraged by the emerging clinical and functional evidence supporting our technology and seeing that progress translate into broader clinical use and access," said Peter Keller, Chief Executive Officer of BlueWhale Bio. "With Synecta grade available to support clinical development and new distribution in China and Europe, we’re building the foundation to enable more cell therapy developers to incorporate our technology into their clinical programs."

New Data Support Synecta-Manufactured CAR-T Cells

At the University of Pennsylvania, preliminary follow-up from refractory lymphoma and leukemia patients receiving Synecta-manufactured huCART19-IL18 showed measurable CAR-T exposure in all four patients at Day 100, with persistence observed through one year (more than twice as long as observed in four patients from a prior dose-matched lymphoma cohort whose CAR-T cells were manufactured using conventional bead-based activation). Three of the four patients receiving Synecta-manufactured cells achieved durable complete responses.

Building on these persistency observations, a team at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is preparing to use Synecta T1 to manufacture CAR-T cells for a study in children with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia, with the goal of evaluating whether the approach could reduce the need for subsequent bone marrow transplantation.

"Synecta has delivered strong activation and high-quality cells, giving us confidence as we plan its use in a challenging population," said Stephan Kadauke, MD, PhD, Associate Director of CHOP’s Cell-Based Therapy Laboratory.

Complementing these clinical observations, single-cell imaging conducted with Applied Cells, Inc. using Celldom, Inc.’s CloneXplorer platform showed that Synecta manufacturing yielded a greater proportion of CAR-T cells capable of both serial tumor-cell killing and subsequent proliferation compared with bead-based manufacturing.

Synecta T1 Enhanced Launch Supports Bench-to-Bed Translation

BlueWhale Bio has launched Synecta T1 Enhanced, a product grade that can support the use of cell-derived nanoparticles in clinical-stage cell therapy programs. Synecta T1 Enhanced is supported by quality documentation filed in BlueWhale’s FDA Drug Master File.

BlueWhale Bio Expands Synecta Access in China and Europe

In parallel with its clinical development activities, BlueWhale Bio is expanding access to Synecta internationally. The company has appointed MineBio and Tebubio to distribute Synecta in China and Europe, respectively, providing customers in these regions with local product access and scientific support.
